Finding a Solution
The Global Compassion Project (GCP) was founded to address unmet preventable health needs of children in the developing world. Despite the availability of effective preventable medical measures, some countries are unable to access life-saving interventions for their people. Ghana has one of the highest prevalence of Hepatitis B in the world and yet lacks the financial resources to fully fund a national Hepatitis B prevention program.
In collaboration with Deseret Hospital in Accra, Ghana, GCP is making an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families, beginning with the timely administration of the ‘at-birth vaccine’ and HBIG to protect at-risk newborns as well as the standard highly effective Hepatitis B vaccine to protect those at high risk. Our goal is the ultimate adoption by the Ghanaian government to become stewards of a national prevention program.
Additionally, we are administering the Hepatitis B vaccine to nursing students at risk, prior to their program admission, to reduce their occupational risk of contracting this disease.
Dr. Dickson Kissi, our Co-founder, and Member of Ghana’s National Parliament, appraises Ghanaian governmental officials on our progress and shares the outcomes and data of GCP’s work.
